VICTOR ORTA ON JAMAL BLACKMAN

Director of Football on goalkeeper injury.

Leeds United Director of Football Victor Orta has expressed his sadness regarding the injury to Jamal Blackman.

Blackman joined Leeds during the summer window from Chelsea on a season-long loan deal having spent last year at Championship rivals Sheffield United.

The goalkeeper, who made two first-team appearances for the Whites, suffered a fractured tibia whilst playing in Friday’s Under-23 game with Birmingham City.

Speaking about the injury, Orta said: “Unfortunately due to the extent of the injury we will have to send Jamal back to Chelsea, which is really disappointing for the club.

“Not only is Jamal a really good goalkeeper, but he is also a good person too and he has been an exemplary professional since joining the club.

“He will be missed by everyone at Thorp Arch, we wish him well and everyone hopes to see him back playing again soon.”

Everyone at Leeds United wishes Jamal a speedy recovery.
