KALVIN PHILLIPS: ON THE DAY WE WEREN’T GOOD ENOUGH

Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips spoke to the media following Saturday’s loss at Blackburn Rovers.

The Whites slipped to a first away defeat of the season at Ewood Park, just United's second loss of the Sky Bet Championship campaign.

Phillips was left frustrated with the result and says the side are now looking to bounce back to winning ways at Elland Road against Ipswich Town.

“Conceding the two goals from corners is not very good from us, we haven’t conceded from many set-pieces so that is very disappointing,” said Phillips.

“We can take positives from the game, I think we came out in the second half and played very well, which the goal just before half time allowed us to do.

“I think Blackburn are very underrated, they play very direct which put us on the back foot in the first half.

“They have very good players and defended really well which made it tough for us, so you have to give credit to them, they are a very good team.

“Obviously for us wanting to do really well in the Championship, it is very disappointing, you look at the two teams and think Leeds should win this game, but it is all about what happens on the day and we weren’t good enough.

“Wednesday night is massive now, I’m happy the games are coming thick and fast because after a loss you always want to put it right straight away.

“We will get back out on the training pitch now, work hard and hopefully get a positive result.

“Morale is great, we have a good set of lads and a good set of leaders, there is never a time where we don’t think we are not good enough to go out and win a game, we are always connected as a team and I think that will show throughout the season.”
