OSSETT UNITED LEAD THE WAY ON NON-LEAGUE DAY

Academy player Liam Kitching also in action for Harrogate Town

It was a mixed bag of results across Yorkshire yesterday, as clubs across the county celebrated higher attendances due to Non-League Day.

Ossett United led the way with a 6-0 win over Colwyn Bay at Ingfield Stadium, with Adam Priestley grabbing a hat-trick, and Karl Jones, Marcus Day, Aidan Chippendale all helping United progress to the next round of the FA Trophy.

AFC Guiseley moved up to 10th in the Vanarama North league with a 2-1 win over Brackley Town. Kingsley James opened the scoring for The Lions, before Shaun Jeffers equalised for the visitors. A tense second half culminated in an 88th-minute winner for Guiseley,  as Paul Clayton slotted home at Nethermoor.

Knaresborough Town moved up to second in the NCEL Premier Division, as they defeated Hall Road Rangers 4-2 at Manse Lane. Recording the third highest attendance in the league, Knaresborough opened the scoring after 14 minutes when Paul Beesley produced a great strike into the top left corner. Brad Walker doubled the lead just before the break, going one-on-one with the keeper, before coolly slotting home. After Rangers pulled one back, setting up a nervous second half, Benjamin Cohen and Ben Parkes put the game to bed with goals in the 78th and 90th minutes.

Leeds United Academy player Liam Kitching was in action yesterday, as he lined up for Harrogate Town against Dover Athletic at the CNG Stadium. Aaron Williams opened the scoring for Town, before two goals in quick succession from Dover's Inih Effiong gave the visitors a 2-1 lead. With the game heading towards its conclusion, Liam Kitching stepped forward with a swinging cross that found Kelvin Langmead, who beat the keeper at the near post to rescue a point.

Yorkshire Amateurs also climbed to the top of the NCEL Premier Division with a 2-0 win over Liversedge, after goals from Flynn and Fisher. The Ammers have enjoyed a great start to the season, scoring 34 goals in 12 games so far.

There was also draws for Farsley Celtic and Halifax Town, as they faced Buxton and Chesterfield respectively; whilst Scarborough recorded the day's highest attendance in the Evo-Stick Premier League, with the 1,160 crowd watching The Seadogs draw 0-0 with Bamber Bridge.
