MARCELO BIELSA: BIRMINGHAM ARE A TEAM WHICH CONCEDES FEW GOALS

Head coach on Birmingham City.

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa spoke to the media ahead of Saturday’s clash with Birmingham City at Elland Road.

The Whites are looking to stretch their unbeaten run in the Sky Bet Championship to nine games with another positive result on home soil.

Despite Birmingham coming into the match without a win in the division, Bielsa is expecting a tricky test.

“Garry Monk was the head coach of Leeds when they finished seventh in the Championship and has been the head coach of several teams, so he is an experienced head coach,” said Bielsa.

“Birmingham are a team that concedes very few goals, so that in itself is a difficulty.

“The few goals that Birmingham have conceded, doesn’t correspond with their league ranking.

“So the fact that they don’t concede many goals, is an important difficulty for us.”

Bielsa, whose side beat Preston North End 3-0 on Tuesday, also had praise for his own group of players ahead of the fixture, but insisted they are not the finished article.

“Every time that a professional team plays, the victory is an obligation.

“We have 15 players and a group of young players, but I wouldn’t change any of the players I have and not many people can say that.

“We have five or six young players with good possibilities, so this club has a good football health and all of the players are pretty young.

“Our performances against Millwall and Middlesbrough, were not the same as against Derby County, Preston North End and Norwich City.

The games against Millwall and Middlesbrough were tough games for us, which is why we can’t say we are a strong team yet, we need to do things before we can be called a strong team and we have not done them so far.

“The Championship is a long season and it is not a sprint.”
