MARCELO BIELSA PRESS CONFERENCE: FIVE KEY POINTS

MARCELO BIELSA PRESS CONFERENCE: FIVE KEY POINTS

Five key quotes ahead of Millwall.

Following Marcelo Bielsa's press conference ahead of Saturday's trip to Millwall, we look at five key points made by the head coach...

On team news...

"Gaetano Berardi still needs time to come back, Bamford needs a little less than four months, Pablo Hernandez will be out for more than three weeks and Kemar Roofe won't be able to play either."

On the squad...

"We have been working with more than 11 players, now we will see how good the work is that we have done in building the group."

On first team players playing in the Under-23s...

“The performance of the players is gets worse, when you don’t play in official games.  The games for the Under-23s is an opportunity for the players who play less, otherwise they won’t be fit to play in the first team.  This is why Patrick Bamford played with the Under-23s and why Jamal Blackman and Lewis Baker played with the Under-23s.  It is a tool, so that when they are in the first team, they will be able to cope with the demands of the competition.  When an injury happens, like the one to Bamford, we always criticise the decision we take.  Bamford got injured at the beginning of the game and didn’t have any physical contact with the opponent.  When he jumped and fell, the impact happened in his knee.  It is a necessity though, to give players minutes.”

On experiencing hostility...

"I've been insulted in my career, spat on in my career and had bottles thrown at me, but nothing serious has happened to me. I don't have to judge or analyse any anti-social behaviour, but I don't have any problem to tolerate it.  I don't want to play the victim in this behaviour, otherwise you will give an importance to this type of behaviour.  This tool doesn't have any value."

On the Leeds fans...

“I can't think of any fans who have more influence than ours."
