MARCELO BIELSA: I AM HAPPY ABOUT THE RESULTS

Head coach on Norwich City win.

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa spoke to the media following Saturday’s win against Norwich City.

Bielsa guided his side to yet another victory, with the Whites now having won five of his six games in charge of the club.

The Whites head coach was pleased with the performance and clean sheet at Carrow Road.

“We needed the individual performances of Kalvin Phillips, Ezgjan Alioski and Barry Douglas, the performance of Jansson was very positive and we should be satisfied with how we dominated the game,” said Bielsa.

“We suffered a little bit on the set-pieces and we could have conceded a goal which would have complicated the game, but generally speaking, the development of the game was satisfactory.

“Our team played always with the same style and we never conceded moments to the rival, what the opponent got was not because we made concessions.

“To extend the way that you play, for the longest time possible, is the goal for any team.

“We will manage the expectations in the same way as we did before, we have only played 10 per cent of the Championship season and it isn’t convenient to draw any conclusions.

“Of course I am happy about the results, not celebrating the goals is more about the respect and humility of the opposition coach who is 10 metres away from me.”

Bilesa also spoke about midfielder Pablo Hernandez who had to be withdrawn in the second half with injury and his impact on the side.

“I couldn’t tell you (if the Hernandez injury is serious or not).

“It is obvious Hernandez has been very important to our team, he is the player who has the best regularity and the player with the biggest influence in controlling games, he is a very intelligent player.

“He is a complete player from every point of view, there is a difference between experience and decisions, you have players with a lot of experience, but with a lack of lucidity when it comes to making decisions, but Pablo reads the needs of the team and he provides solutions to all of the problems of the team in each sector of the field.

“I think he can make me a better head coach, because I see the soloutions he is finding and decisions he is taking, that I’ve only seen very few times during my career.

“I maybe saw this in players who played in different positions on the pitch, but to have such an influence at the side and having an influence in the front, middle and back.

“He is a player who improves his teammates, he makes them better and puts them in better situations.

“He is a silent leader, he always takes the responsibility for the difficult things and makes it easier for his team mates to play and he does this without saying a word.”
