PATRICK BAMFORD: NO STONE IS LEFT UNTURNED

Striker speaks ahead of Stoke game.

Leeds United forward Patrick Bamford spoke to the press ahead of Sunday’s Sky Bet Championship fixture with Stoke City.

The Whites entertain the Potters who were relegated from the Premier League in the first game of the campaign at Elland Road.

Bamford believes the division is wide open this season and is optimistic the Whites can do well.

“I’ve only been here a few days, but I can see with Marcelo Bielsa that no stone is left unturned,” said Bamford.

“He is so meticulous with everything he does and it is something different to what I have ever experienced before.

“The whole set up and regime is exciting, you can tell we are going to be fit and a strong team and the ideas behind everything make a lot of sense, it is going to be a good year I think.

“In the last couple of years in the Championship you could always pick our maybe two teams who you felt would run away with it, but this year I think it is open to pretty much anyone.

“Stoke have spent a bit of money and will look to get straight back, but apart from maybe them, it is an open ticket really and it is up to us to grab it with both hands and see how far we can get.

“I don’t think you can read too much into the first game, all over the league everyone won’t have that full match sharpness yet.

“You start knowing more around Christmas time, but it is important to try and pick up the points as early as you can obviously, but we are still going to be gelling as a team, the same as everyone else.”
