10 FACTS ABOUT PABLO HERNANDEZ

Pablo Hernandez has today signed a new two year contract.  Here are 10 facts you may or may not know about our Spanish playmaker.

1) Hernandez was born in Castellón, Spain on 11th April 1985 and is 33 years-old.

2) After coming through the youth ranks with Valencia, he went onto make his professional debut for the Spanish outfit against Osasuna on 16th May 2006.

3)Hernandez initially joined Leeds on loan on 2nd August 2016 from Qatar outfit Al-Arabi, before a permanent deal was struck.


4) He made his Leeds United debut in the EFL Cup on 10th August 2016, as Leeds defeated Fleetwood Town on penalties at Highbury Stadium (above).

5) During his time at Leeds United, Hernandez has gone onto make 80 appearances for the Whites in all competitions.


6) Hernandez scored his first Leeds United goal against Cardiff City, on Saturday 17th September 2017, a game the Whites won 2-0 (above).  He has scored a total of 15 goals in all competitions during his time at the club.



7) As well as scoring, Hernandez has also provided more assists than any other player over the past two seasons with 17.


8) Hernandez has won a total of four international caps for Spain and made his debut against South Africa on 20th June 2009.

9) He has scored one goal for Spain at international level, in a friendly against Austria on 18th November 2009.



10) Pablo is not the only professional sportsperson in the family. The Whites midfielder is married to Mar, the sister of PGA Tour golfer, Sergio Garcia, who has won 31 tournaments, including the 2017 Masters'.

Hernandez has been nominated for the club’s 2018 Player of the Year Award for his performances throughout the campaign and the ceremony takes place on Friday 4th May.
