PAUL HECKINGBOTTOM: A DESERVED WIN

PAUL HECKINGBOTTOM: A DESERVED WIN

Head coach on Bolton Wanderers victory.

Leeds United head coach Paul Heckingbottom spoke exclusively to LUTV following Saturday’s victory against Bolton Wanderers.

Over 35,000 were in attendance for the Sky Bet Championship win at Elland Road, as Leeds got back to winning ways.

Goals from Caleb Ekuban and Pablo Hernandez sealed Leeds the three points and Heckingbottom was thrilled to come away with the victory.

“We needed that and wanted that and I am really pleased with the performance,” said Heckingbottom.

“I spoke all week about how difficult Bolton can make the game for you, but in all honesty I thought we made it difficult for ourselves, by not taking our chances.

“It was a deserved win for us, but we could have made it easier.

“I have to give the boys credit though, we didn’t take the chances at one end and we had to stand strong at the other end, which we did, Bailey Peacock-Farrell only had two things to deal with all game really.

“It was a great idea and good initiative from the club to get the fans in, we sent everyone home happy with a win, there were lots of chances, lots of action and most importantly three points.

“We have got the win, but the job now starts looking at the performance and what we can do better.

“It is always about results, sometimes you can play poorly and win, but it is all about the three points and you have to find that winning formula.”

Heckingbottom also gave an injury update on Adam Forshaw and Liam Cooper who both missed Saturday’s clash.

He said: I knew Adam was out after the Sheffield Wednesday game, he has a tear in his calf, which we had been trying to manage, but it is too sore.

“Liam came back into training this week, but in the same leg, he has pulled a muscle and has a little tear, so they will be both be out for a while by the looks of things.”
