PAUL HECKINGBOTTOM: I’M FRUSTRATED WE HAVEN’T TAKEN THREE POINTS

Head coach on Reading draw.

Leeds United head coach Paul Heckingbottom felt his side should have taken all three points against Reading on Saturday.

The Whites and the Royals had to settle for a point apiece, as the two sides played out a 2-2 draw at the Madejski Stadium.

United’s head coach was unhappy with the way his team conceded the equaliser in the second half, after coming from behind to lead 2-1.

“Their second goal is upsetting me, because it is initially from our free-kick,” said Heckingbottom.

“We take it quick which is fine, we have three men behind the ball, but as we play the free-kick, our three players run forward and Mo Barrow runs forward.

“When their goalkeeper eventually claims it, we gave him the option to hit us quickly on the counter and it is those little details that have been costing the team throughout the season and we have to iron them out.

“The players were oblivious to that when I pulled them on it after the game, but they are the things where you can be so ruthless by getting them right.

“We had worked our socks off to get back in the game and I thought we were the stronger team in the second half, which is why I am disappointed.

“I thought the game started pretty even, we had the first chance, but we fell behind not long after that.

“Bailey Peacock-Farrell then made a great save, which for me was a defining moment in the game, because at 2-0 it is difficult, but he kept us in it.

“We grew into the game again, were stronger at the end of the first half and we managed to get the equaliser.

“At half time we changed a few things, in the second half we wanted to keep the ball more and be really positive with our passing and we were better with that in the second half."

“I’m frustrated we haven’t taken all three points after what we did, there was plenty there, but we haven’t won."
