MATCH PREVIEW: LEEDS UNITED V WOLVES

MATCH PREVIEW: LEEDS UNITED V WOLVES

We look ahead to Wednesday's clash.

Leeds United entertain Sky Bet Championship leaders Wolves at Elland Road on Wednesday evening at Elland Road, looking to bounce back from last Friday's 3-0 defeat at Middlesbrough.  Wolves head north, with just five defeats in the division this season after 34 games.  A big summer spend saw them smash their transfer record, to acquire Portugal international Reuben Neves for over £15m from FC Porto, but he is unavailable for the visitors on Wednesday.  Wolves come into the game without a win in three and saw Saturday's game against Reading succumb to the weather on the day of the match.

Wolves dented United’s Play-Off hopes with a 1-0 victory last time out at Elland Road.  The visitors had a fine chance to take lead when a mix up between Pontus Jansson and Gaetano Berardi lead to Andreas Weimann going through one-on-one with Rob Green, but he couldn’t get the better of the United stopper, who made a brilliant save.  Wolves took the lead in the 38th minute, Jansson charged down the field, however Wolves countered and threaded the ball through to Dicko who slotted away the chance into the bottom left corner.  Souleymane Doukara had Leeds’ best chance with a header, which was well saved by Andy Lonergan.

Team News

Leeds head coach Paul Heckingbottom could ring the changes following defeat last time out.  Adam Forshaw is pushing for a start after featuring from the bench in the loss at the Riverside Stadium, whilst Pablo Hernandez has returned to training this week.  Wolves will be without record transfer Ruben Neves, who serves the second game of his two match suspension, following Saturday's postponement.  Benik Afobe and Diogo Jota could both be re-called to the starting line-up, following a 2-0 defeat by Fulham last time out.

The key battle

Pontus Jansson v Ivan Cavaleiro

In our last meeting at Wolves, Cavaleiro was the star man at Molineux.  The Portugal international and former Benfica, Deportivo and Monaco man ran the show and found the net in Wolves' 4-1 victory.  The man tasked with stopping the forward is Pontus Jansson, who will be hoping to keep the 24-year-old quiet at Elland Road.
