EUNAN O’KANE: EVERYONE DID THEIR JOB

Midfielder on Brentford win.

Leeds United and Republic of Ireland international Eunan O’Kane was pleased to see the Whites get back to winning ways on Saturday.

United beat Brentford 1-0 in the Sky Bet Championship at Elland Road, thanks to Liam Cooper’s first half effort.

O’Kane was very satisfied at coming away with the three points, but still feels the side can improve over the coming weeks.

“We have been on a really bad run and with the new gaffer coming in, it was important to get that win as quickly as possible,” said O’Kane.

“It wasn’t the prettiest of wins, but we dug in, fought hard and we are more than happy to come away with the three points.

“We worked well as a unit, everyone did their job, which is what the gaffer has been after since he came in and that is the sort of result you get when everyone does that.

“Brentford are a good side and we knew they would have a spell in the game, there was a 15-20 minute period when they were on top, but I thought once we got over that, we looked more likely to score.

“They might have had a lot of the ball, but they didn’t hurt us, they had it in areas where we were comfortable with them having it and if you can keep clean sheets, you are heading in the right direction.

“A win is a win, in any way it comes and when you do it against a good team it is even better.

“We are happy with the dirty side, we have talked about being better with the ball and we can be, but if we can add some quality to the performance, along with working hard and winning second balls, we will definitely move in the right direction.”
