SPAIN TRAINING CAMP: DAY ONE

SPAIN TRAINING CAMP: DAY ONE

The latest from Murcia.

It has been a busy day for head coach Thomas Christiansen and his team, as they departed for Spain for five days of intense training.

After meeting at Elland Road on Monday morning, the Whites headed to Leeds and Bradford International Airport, departing for Murcia.

Upon touching down in Spain, United were transferred to their training base, where they got to check out the facilities and have lunch.

The Whites were then put through their paces by Christiansen and his backroom staff in the Spanish heat.

Speaking about the trip so far, head coach Christiansen said: “It has been good, we’ve had the travel, arrived and had a small rest before the first training session.

“On Tuesday we will go strong in training, we have double sessions planned and I think it is a very important week.

“We have five days to prepare well for the Hull game, here in Spain, in good conditions and hopefully we can perform well at the end of it.”

Defender Matthew Pennington added: “We’ve had a light session this afternoon after travelling, but this is going to be a tough week of training.

“We have double sessions planned on most days and it is good to be away together as a group, which is also good for team spirit.

“It is a change of scenery for us, it is a refresher and hopefully we can kick on after this week and have a strong finish to the season.”

Following training, United dined, before an early night, ahead of a double session in the sunshine on Tuesday.
