ADAM FORSHAW: I WANTED TO COME HERE

Midfielder on Leeds move.

New Leeds United signing Adam Forshaw spoke exclusively to LUTV after completing his move from Middlesbrough.

The Whites completed the transfer on Thursday, with the midfielder penning a four and a half year deal at Elland Road.

Forshaw can’t wait to get his career underway at Elland Road and how it was an easy decision to sign for Leeds.

“I’m made up, as soon as I knew Leeds were interested I wanted to come here,” said Forshaw.

“With the size of the club, the history, everything just felt right and I can’t wait to get going.

“I had one or two other opportunities, but as soon as I knew the interest was there from Leeds it was a no brainer and it really excites me.

“This is one of the biggest clubs in the country, the fan base speaks for itself, whenever they go away from home they fill it every time and that can only spur the lads on.

“Leeds are on Sky quite a lot, when we played them at Elland Road, they were by far the best team on the day and won the game 2-1, so I have seen a little bit of them, they have really good technical players.”

Forshaw also hopes his relations with some of the current United squad will stand him in good stead to kick start his Leeds career and is looking forward to fighting for a place in the heart of the Whites midfield.

He said: “I’m close with Stuart Dallas, he’s been giving me a bit of stick already and I know Eunan O’Kane and Matthew Pennington from my Everton days, so hopefully they can help me settle in a little bit better.

“I can see the project and what the club are trying to do, we are within touching distance of the Play-Offs and promotion so if we can put a decent run together, there is no reason why we can’t achieve what we all want.

“In midfield, there are the likes of Eunan, Ronaldo Vieira and Kalvin Phillips, I think competition for places is only good for everyone, it brings the best out in people and really ups the standard.

“Hopefully I can bring some goals and a few assists, I like to get on the ball and get the team playing and keep the team moving, whilst creating some chances.”
