THOMAS CHRISTIANSEN: I’D LIKE TO THANK THE FANS

Head coach on Ipswich Town defeat.

Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen spoke exclusively to LUTV following Saturday’s narrow defeat at Ipswich Town.

The Whites saw Eunan O’Kane sent off in the first half and Bersant Celina’s strike secured the Tractor Boys all three points at Portman Road.

Christiansen, despite the result praised his side, with how they fought with a man less and also the supporters who made the trip to East Anglia.

“Of course the result is very disappointing, but I am very happy with the attitude of the players,” said Christiansen.

“It was a game, eleven against eleven, where we would have taken a clear three points, especially with how the second half went.

“We made changes and the team believed we could take a positive result, which overall I think we deserved.

“With Samuel Saiz’s red card last week, you cannot defend it, because it was very bad, but in Eunan’s situation, he is provoked and if he had fallen to the floor, the Ipswich player could have been sent off.

“There is nothing we can do, it is the decision of the referee, but we still had to try to take a positive result and we tried with the changes we made to do that.

“I said that we would have the opportunity to take something out of the game, even with a man less and I thought we played very well and better than Ipswich.

“If the players do what they did in the second half here at Ipswich, against Millwall we should win the game.

“I was proud of what the players did, they fought like warriors and the fans applause at the end of the game showed, they gave everything.

“I’d like to thank the fans who made the long journey to support the team, it was amazing, in the second half, the help from our fans gave us the possibility to try and take a positive result.
