THOMAS CHRISTIANSEN: WE HAVE TO PICK OURSELVES UP

Head coach on Birmingham City loss.

Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen spoke exclusively to LUTV following Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Birmingham City.

The Whites suffered a first loss in the division since November, with Jacques Maghoma’s effort seven minutes from time enough to secure Birmingham all three points.

Christiansen, who had overseen four straight victories in the Championship, felt his sideweren’t good enough to take a victory at St Andrew’s.

It was a very difficult match, we knew that we were coming up a team much better than what the table says,” said Christiansen.

“It was a horrible game and from the outside it must have been hard to watch, there were limited opportunities and only fights and challenges.

“In the first half we couldn’t put four passes in a row together, to give us the opportunity to control the match.

“We were a little bit better in the second half, but not good enough to come away with the three points.

“We’ve come from a period of a lot of game and a good run with many victories in a row and one day you have to lose.

“We didn’t expect to lose, we came to get the three points, but we couldn’t do that.

“There is no time to talk about this defeat, we have to pick ourselves up now for the game with Nottingham Forest, which we will go into with confidence, looking to take a positive result.
