THOMAS CHRISTIANSEN: WE HAVE TO CONTINUE

Head coach on Burton victory.

Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen spoke exclusively to LUTV following the Boxing Day victory over Burton Albion.

The Whites recorded a 2-1 away win at the Pirelli Stadium, to move within five points of the automatic promotion spots in the Sky Bet Championship.

It wasn’t easy for Christiansen’s side who came back from 1-0 deficit to win, for the first time since November 2016, but United’s head coach was pleased with the overall display.

“Before we went behind, I thought the team went out and made a good game,” said Christiansen.

“We controlled totally and played well, but in one situation, we conceded and went down 1-0, which was a shame.

“We tried to put the tempo in the game and had some good crosses, which didn’t quite find the last man and generally it was a good performance.

“My message at half time was to continue believing and doing what we’d done, of course we had just adjust some things in the second half, but not many, because they had done quite well.

“In the second half we had to go for the three points, believing and being patient that we could turn around the result and it is a very important win.

“It was great to be part of a Boxing Day fixture for the first time, I would have liked to have had it at Elland Road with our own fans, but the supporters at Burton were also very good.

“I’d like to thank them for joining and supporting the team, especially when the result is bad, we could still hear them singing, which was very good.

“We are on a good run, but we have to continue this now and we have another difficult away game.

“We will prepare as best as we can and hopefully take another good result.”
