KEMAR ROOFE: THE BEST FEELING IN FOOTBALL

Forward on hat-trick and QPR win.

Leeds United forward Kemar Roofe was delighted with his Sky Bet Championship hat-trick on Saturday at Loftus Road which earned the Whites a 3-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers.

An injury to Caleb Ekuban, resulted in Roofe being switched from the wing to centre-forward and the move paid dividends, with the former Oxford United man scoring three second half goals.

Roofe’s hat-trick against Ian Holloway’s side was his second of the campaign after also netting three in the Carabao Cup victory over Newport County AFC at Elland Road back in August and spoke to LUTV about what it meant to him.

“It is probably the best feeling in football to be honest,” said Roofe.

“Getting the chance and being able to just one goal and win the game is the main thing, but getting a hat-trick, you don’t really expect it.

“It is my preferred position to play, but obviously wherever I get put, I am going to give 100 per cent.

“The win is a massive three points for us, our first game last season was here and QPR embarrassed us, it hurt us and we put extra into this game.

“A lot of the goals I scored came off the back of a very good build up, I just had to be in the right place at the right time and execute the finish.

“Even if I don’t score, as long as I help the team and we can get the win, that is the most important thing.

“Hopefully I can keep scoring in that position, but of course it is up the head coach who plays there.

“Overall it was a very good away performance, we had a game plan, executed it and got the result.”
