THOMAS CHRISTIANSEN: I AM VERY SATISFIED

Head coach on Barnsley win.

Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen spoke exclusively to LUTV following Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Barnsley at Oakwell.

The Whites got back to winning ways after suffering a defeat on the road at Wolves in midweek, to record a second Sky Bet Championship victory in three games.

United’s head coach was delighted with his sides performance and first Yorkshire derby win of the season.

“I believe that the players went out with the right mentality and that is the only way we could take something positive from here,” said Christiansen.

“We knew how difficult it would be to take something positive away from Oakwell, because over the last 18 years, Leeds have only won twice here.

“That was a sign for the players to go out on the pitch and focus on what they had to do.

“We controlled the match throughout the 90 minutes, we produced a strong defensive game and up front we put away the opportunities we had.

“We came out straight away and tried to put them under pressure, because we felt we could have many opportunities with the second balls today.

“In the second half we could have done a little bit more, but overall I am very satisfied.

“I am very happy to end the week with six points out of nine, we were playing two teams who could be Premier League clubs and a tough derby.

“It is good for the players to keep a clean sheet, it is important we are strong in defence, the performance of the whole team was good and we deserved this victory.”
