PABLO HERNANDEZ: IT WAS AN IMPORTANT WIN

Midfielder on Middlesbrough victory.

Leeds United’s Spanish playmaker Pablo Hernandez felt Sunday’s victory against Middlesbrough was a crucial one.

Hernandez netted United’s first goal and also provided an assist for Ezgjan Alioski as the Whites ran out 2-1 winners against Garry Monk’s Middlesbrough at Elland Road.

The former Valencia man is now hoping the Whites can build on the victory in the coming games and also praised the impact of the Whites faithful.

“I felt it was an important win for us because we lost our last three games,” said Hernandez.

“The feeling has not been good, in the last seven or eight games we have not played well and we knew it was very important to get the three points at Elland Road in front of our fans and I think we deserved the win.

“I think for us, the last international break arrived for us in a good moment, because we needed to work on the training ground and in the last two weeks we have done this very hard and prepared for the Middlesbrough game and because of this, I think the performance was better than previous games.

“The atmosphere was unbelievable, I think we have the best fans in the league, they not only support us at Elland Road, but also away from home as well.

“We can be playing in London or in cities three or four hours away and there are still 2,000-3,000 fans and I have never seen this in my career.

“It is unbelievable feeling when you go out to the pitch and I can only say thank you to the fans, because the support really gives the team an extra boost.

“We know Wednesday will be a difficult game against Wolves, but the win against Middlesbrough gives us extra confidence, we not only got the three points, but we played good football and it was a good performance.

“Wolves are a good team, but I know if I play like I did on Sunday and we all give 100% like we did against Middlesbrough, then we can win.”
