THOMAS CHRISTIANSEN: INDIVIDUAL MISTAKES COST US

Head coach on Brentford loss.

Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen spoke exclusively to LUTV following Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Brentford.

Goals from Neal Maupay, Yoann Barbet and Ryan Woods condemned the Whites to an eighth loss in nine games.

Despite the loss, Christiansen believes there are many good things his side can take from the game and build on over the international break.

“When you are in a bad situation with many defeats, when you concede a goal like the first one, many teams go down,” said Christiansen.

“But I saw the strength in the team, we made two changes at half time and the side went out and believed in the possibility to change the result.

“We were almost able to do it, but again, individual mistakes cost us the game in the end.

“Our character is a positive to take from the game, but in this league you get punished for individual mistakes.

“We had some big opportunities to score, but when you are in this negative situation, it seems the chances stay out rather than go in and we don’t seem to be getting the luck we need.

“Over the international break we need to work hard and prepare well for the games, the players have to continue believing, because they proved in the second half that we can play well.
