THOMAS CHRISTIANSEN: THERE WILL BE UPS AND DOWNS

Head coach on Derby County.

Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen spoke to the press ahead of Tuesday’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Derby County.

The Whites take on the Rams at Elland Road, knowing a victory will keep Leeds in the Play-Off places.

Chrisitiansen’s side have lost their last two games on home soil, but the Whites head coach is confident his side can bounce back on Tuesday.

“The team is confident, we have had time to talk about improving from the last game,” said Christiansen.

“Everyone knows their responsibilities on the pitch, the training sessions in the last few days have been very good, everyone is motivated and looking forward to the game against Derby County.

“We come into the match on the back of a defeat and now we have to get back to winning ways again.

“We will try to do our best, it is important to come out strongly and try and score the first goal and this will be our intention.

“Again though, we are coming up against a tough opponent, Derby are very organised, especially in defence.

“The league will be tight throughout the season, there will not be a team promoted in March, our target is to be in the top six.

“During the season, there may be some moments when we are out of the top six, but in the end, it is about being in there.

“We only take one game at a time, we will go for the win and not look any further than that.

“It is a long season and there will be ups and downs throughout.”

With Christiansen forced into at least two changes, he urged the incoming players to take their opportunities.

“Liam Cooper will be out of the game, he picked up a dead leg on Friday, Kalvin Phillips is out for the game with suspension and it is an opportunity for some other players to get some minutes and get back into the starting line-up on a regular basis.

“Caleb Ekuban is getting closer, he has resumed full training this week, but Tuesday will be too early for him.”
