Bristol City 0-3 Leeds United (Saiz 4, 14, Lasogga 67)

Leeds United got back to winning ways in emphatic style, with a fine 3-0 victory over Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

Ronaldo Vieira was recalled to the starting line-up, whilst Luke Ayling, who signed a new four year contract in midweek came up against his former side.

Leeds got off to the perfect start, Kalvin Phillips’ block sent Pierre-Michel Lasogga into the area, he teed up Samuel Saiz and his effort found the back of the net via a deflection.

Saiz then did brilliantly to break into the box, he tried to tee up Ezgjan Alioski and his pass deflected just wide off a Bristol defender.

From the resulting set-piece, the ball fell to Alioski who tried his luck from range, but he couldn’t find the target.

Leeds doubled the lead in the 14th minute, Alioski charged forward into the Bristol box and from the challenges by the home side, there was a mix up, the ball fell to Saiz and he found the back of the net from ten yards.

Two minutes after the second goal, Bristol had their first chance Callum O'Dowda crossed and Bobby Reid headed just wide.

Lasogga then went close to adding a third, he fired from a narrow angle, but his effort went wide.

The striker then tried his luck from distance with United on the break, forcing Fielding into action with a low effort.

Vieira then did well to block Joe Bryan’s cross at a set-piece, to ensure Leeds went in two up at the break.

After the break Leeds started brightly, Alioski did well on the left flank and delivered a decent cross, which Phillips headed just over.

Reid then threatened for the home side when he broke into the Leeds box, but he slipped at the vital moment.

Jens Hegeler then went close when he headed over a free-kick as the home side looked to get back into the game.

Lasogga then did well to work himself some space and fire a fine effort on goal, forcing Fielding into a great save, before Vieira fired a low effort off target from range.

Leeds then had a brilliant chance for a third, Lasogga found Vieira in the box, he squared to Saiz, but the Spaniard couldn’t find the target.

Phillips then forced Fielding into a save, the re-bound fell to Lasogga and he only saw his effort cleared by a last ditch Bristol effort.

Leeds did added a third in the 67th minute, Phillips delivered a great corner and Lasogga fired a bullet header past Fielding, to send United’s support into delirium.

Both sides were reduced to ten men ten minutes from time, with Gaetano Berardi and Matty Taylor dismissed.

Famara Diedhiou a chance late on for the visitors, but couldn’t direct his header on target, as the Whites held on for a memorable victory.
