ACADEMY MANAGER DELIGHTED FOR CONOR

Adam Underwood oversaw the early stages of Conor's time at Leeds

Leeds United Academy manager Adam Underwood has expressed his delight after Conor Shaughnessy put pen to paper on a new four year deal today.

Underwood has overseen the early stages of Conor's time at Leeds after the Irishman joined up with our U23 side last September.

Underwood said: "I'm delighted for Conor, he is a hardworking, talented and versatile footballer who has an excellent attitude and work ethic. He impressed everyone at the academy from his first trial period at the club around a year ago and in the space of 12 months he has established himself with our U23s and moved up to represent the first team.

“I'm pleased that Victor and Thomas have seen enough to secure his long term future."

Although Shaughnessy only spent one year at the academy, he becomes the latest in a long line of young players who have made the step up to the first team and Underwood believes this can help to inspire the next generation of academy graduates.

He added: " Conor can act as another example to all the young lads in our academy system as well as a reminder that Leeds United is a club that makes promoting young players into the first team a priority."
