THOMAS CHRISTIANSEN: OUR INTENTION IS TO GO FOR THE GAME

Head coach on Carabao Cup clash.

Thomas Christiansen believes his side can cause an upset in the Carabao Cup third round, when they travel to Burnley on Tuesday night.

The Whites head to Turf Moor, having scored nine goals in the first two rounds of the competition.

Despite Saturday’s defeat at Millwall, United’s first of the season, the Leeds head coach is hoping his side can progress to round four, but is expecting another difficult test.

“We haven’t had much time to think too much about Saturday’s result, because on Tuesday we have another very important game against Burnley on Tuesday,” said Christiansen.

“It is good for us after a defeat, to have another game so quickly and everyone is focused on it and wants to do well.

“I’ve spoken individually to the players about what went wrong on Saturday and what we need to improve on and we will go through this in further detail after the Burley game.

“Liam Cooper is doing very well, Matthew Pennington is back in training with the team which is good and we will have to wait on Pontus Jansson, but it isn’t looking too bad.

“There is a possibility on Tuesday that we will see some more of the players who haven’t had as many minutes this season.

“I know we are facing a good team from the Premier League, who have started the season very well, but our intention is to go for the game and I believe we can go there and make it a good match.

“We know we will be coming up against a team with a lot of quality and it will be another tough match, like all the games we have had up until now.”
