THOMAS CHRISTIANSEN: I AM VERY PLEASED WITH OUR START

Head coach on Sunderland win.

Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen spoke exclusively to LUTV following Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Sunderland.

The Whites extended their unbeaten start to the campaign, thanks to goals from Samuel Saiz and Stuart Dallas at the Stadium of Light.

Christiansen was delighted with the result and also spoke about the situation with Chris Wood, with the striker absent from the squad.

“We have had a difficult couple of days, but the response was perfect and one that I expected of my team, of which I am very satisfied with the performance of my side.”

“The most important thing is getting the three points and keeping a clean sheet is another good thing, it is the third in a row so the team is getting consistent at the back and we also managed to score two nice goals.

“Everyone played a good game, there was a lot of pressure on Caleb Ekuban to replace Chris Wood, but he did it perfectly, he made good runs and kept the ball really well which was good for the team.

“I said we can expect a lot from Samuel Saiz, but he needs time, he still needs to improve his fitness, but he is on the right track.

“I am very pleased with the start to the campaign, it was a good test to prove that we are a good team.

“We played against a strong opponent who wants to be challenging at the top end of the table and this was our moment to prove we will also fight for that.

“We are planning without Chris Wood now and we are expecting a busy end to the transfer window."
