Leeds United and Fulham played out a goal-less draw at Elland Road as both teams retained their unbeaten starts to the season.

After a stop start opening due to an injury to Fulham’s Tim Ream, the visitors had the first opportunity of the game inside 11 minutes, the ball fell to Stefan Johansen on the edge of the box and he struck just off target.

Fulham had another chance less than three minutes later, the Aboubakar Kamara struck from inside the box and his effort deflected just wide for a corner.

The away side kept up their early dominance and almost broke the deadlock through Ibrahima Cisse, he struck from 25 yards and was only denied by the post.

Leeds began to apply pressure after the 20 minute mark, Pablo Hernandez played Samu Saiz into the box and he tried to square for Chris Wood, but saw his cross intercepted.

Wood had a great opportunity to give Leeds the lead in the 31st minute, Ezgjan Alioski played him through on goal and the New Zealand striker attempted to dink the ball over the out-coming David Button, but he couldn’t beat the Fulham stopper.

Leeds had the ball in the back of the net just before the break, Saiz crossed and Wood slotted home, but the striker was flagged for offside.

In first half stoppage time, Eunan O’Kane floated a long free-kick into the box, but Conor Shaughnessy, making his home league debut, was unable to get his shot away.

Half Time: Leeds United 0-0 Fulham

Leeds began the second half brightly and Kalvin Phillips struck from range, but saw his effort deflect wide for a corner.

Saiz then went close for the Whites, on the counter attack, Phillips set the Spaniard up, but he fired just wide from the edge of the box.

Fulham had a brilliant opportunity ten minutes from time when Sone Aluko went through one-on-one with Felix Wiedwald, but United’s German goalkeeper made a fine stop.

Neeskens Kebano then did well to break into the Leeds box, but Shaughnessy in the United defence made a fine tackle to prevent him getting his shot away.

Following Shaughnessy’s challenge Leeds countered and Kemar Roofe headed down for Phillips to strike left footed, but he could only fire wide.

With a minute remaining, substitute Stuart Dallas fired the ball across the face of goal and Wood was just inches away from getting on the end of his deflected shot.

Kebano tried to win it in stoppage time with a long range effort, but luckily for Leeds, it went just over the crossbar.

The draw is United’s second successive 0-0 draw at Elland Road, but the Whites remain unbeaten and occupy sixth place in the Championship.
