THOMAS CHRISTIANSEN: WE DIDN’T SCORE ENOUGH FROM THE OPPORTUNITIES

Head coach on North Ferriby result.

Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen felt his side should have scored more as they defeated National League North outfit North Ferriby United.

Goals from Marcus Antonsson and Kemar Roofe gave United a 2-0 victory at the Eon Visual Media Stadium.

The result was Leeds’ third pre-season win in a row, but Christiansen urged his side to be more clinical in front of goal.

Like the other two games, it is pre-season and we have these friendly games to test new things in the team and we also had new players,” said Christiansen.

“The result didn’t reflect the game, it was difficult also because of the pitch and the ball didn’t run as fast as we wanted.

“We didn’t score enough from the opportunities we created, especially in the first half when we played very well, but generally I am happy with the team and we can move forward with a clean sheet.

“The combinations and our understanding of how we want to play is coming through now and this is the most important thing for me right now, seeing the work we are doing, happening on the pitch.

Leeds now head to Austria on a ten day tour, playing three matches over that period, as the opposition steps up and Christiansen is looking forward to it.

“In Austria we will play against good teams, FC Ingolstadt played in the Bundesliga last year, everyone knows Borussia Mönchengladbach and Eibar from Spain and we will be able to measure where and how good we are, it will be intense.

“For me now, the decision has been made and it is clear who will go on the tour.”
