WHITES BRING IN GOALKEEPER

Wiedwald joins Leeds.

Leeds United can today confirm that Felix Wiedwald has joined the club from German Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen for an undisclosed fee.

The goalkeeper has penned a three year contract with the Whites and becomes the clubs fourth permanent capture of the summer, following the arrivals of Mateusz Klich and Hadi Sacko, along with Madger Gomes who has joined the Under-23s.

Wiedwald made 26 appearances in all competitions for Bremen last season, helping them to an eighth place finish in Germany’s top flight last season.

The German started his career at Werder Bremen, before joining Bundesliga 2 outfit MSV Duisburg, where he spent two years.

In the summer of 2013, he was snapped up by Eintracht Frankfurt where he spent a further two years, before re-joining his first club Bremen in May 2015.

The 27 year-old German will battle it out with Rob Green, Marco Silvestri and Bailey Peacock-Farrell to be United’s first choice goalkeeper during the 2017/18 campaign.

He could feature for Leeds for the first time in our friendly, away at Guiseley on Saturday 8th July 2017.

With the acquisition of Elland Road and an exciting summer ahead, there has never been a better time to become a Leeds United Season Ticket Holder.

New Adult Season Ticket Holders in the Family Stand can enjoy every home Sky Bet Championship game for as little as £21.04 per match, with Under-11s equating to just £3.00 per game.
