GARRY MONK: WE WANT TO WIN THESE FINAL THREE GAMES

Head coach on Burton Albion clash.

Leeds United head coach Garry Monk is determined to start a winning run this Saturday in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Whites head to the Pirelli Stadium to take on Burton Albion, with three games remaining until the end of the season.

Leeds currently sit in seventh spot, outside the Play-Off places on only goal difference and Monk insists his side will be doing everything to finish in the top six.

“We understand the situation we are in, we are of the mindset that we have to go and win the three games and that is our target,” said Monk.

“It is very simple for us, if we win our three games we will have a place in the Play-Offs.

“This group has done fantastic, we can’t forget that, they have come so far and now we are in a position where we have a new objective and we want to fight as hard as we can to make the Play-Offs.

“We are in a season that has been ultra competitive and you can see that from the history of seasons in the past, we are on 73 points and that has been the average for the past 20 seasons to make the Play-Offs.

“It is a standout year in terms of competitiveness and quality, which shows how well the players have done and we can’t forget that.

“One thing we have always been good at is responding, this group have that character, we want to win these final three games, it’s not going to be easy, but we believe we can achieve it.

“Whenever a challenge has been put in front of this club it rises to the occasion and that is not just the players, but also the fans.

“There is a lot of football to be played, there are a lot of twists and turns, but I don’t think there are a better set of fans to have behind us when we have a challenge.”

United’s head coach also gave an update on his squad ahead of the trip.

“We have no new injury concerns, Tyler Denton has come back into training, it is just Marco Silvestri who is still unavailable along with Liam Cooper who is suspended,” added Monk.

“Ronaldo Vieira had an illness over the past two games, but he has been back in training this week and he will be fit for Saturday’s game.”
