GARRY MONK: WE NEED TO GO ON THE HUNT

Head coach on Wolves defeat.

Leeds United head coach Garry Monk spoke exclusively to LUTV following Monday's 1-0 defeat by Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Nouha Dicko's 38th minute strike ended United's unbeaten run at Elland Road.

The result meant the Whites slipped to seventh place and out of the Play-Offs, but Monk insisted his team will fight to get back there.

“We’re really disappointed to lose the game,” said Monk.

“Our first half performance was the worst in many, many months, we were off our usual standards and we couldn’t afford to be.

“At this moment in time it is hard to understand and pinpoint why this happened, but it has and we have to move on.

“We have spent a long time being hunted by other teams and now we need to go on the hunt.

“We have three games remaining and there are still nine points to play for and we can still do it.

“The message to the team and everybody else is that we have three cup finals coming up and we have to leave everything we have on the pitch, we need to make it happen for ourselves.

“In these three games we have to force everything and give our all in every minute of these and if we do and all stick together, this group is more than capable of getting to where we need to be.

“I have great belief in this group a lot can happen in three games, especially in football.

“We have to take care of our own business now, in these next three games we will be giving everything to fight for the nine points available.

“It starts now, this group have great belief, heart and desire, they have shown it all season and I am sure we will see it again in these final games.”
