LIAM COOPER: WE WANTED IT

LIAM COOPER: WE WANTED IT

Defender on Brighton victory.

Liam Cooper was delighted with Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at Elland Road.

The centre-back was re-called to the side for the visit of the Seagulls and helped United keep a clean sheet, with an impressive performance at the back.

United’s win closed the gap on the automatic promotion spots and Cooper was happy United were able to deliver three points.

“It is a massive result for us, from the word go we were at it like the gaffer wanted us to be,” said Cooper.

“If we go at 100% we are hard to stop, we managed to get the goals at vital stages with Chris Wood coming up with the goods again.

“Everything we are putting into practise is coming out on the pitch and it is great to be a part of.

“Brighton showed us a lot of respect from the back, they let us have the ball, but we had a lot of success with our deep passes, the game plan worked and the lads are buzzing.

“To a man we were a different class and in the end I think we wanted it a bit more than them and it is nice to see and be part of.

“Results like Saturday’s give us massive confidence, we are a confident bunch anyway and I think that shows on the pitch.

“The fans were unbelievable again, they carried us through in the end and I thought we were the better team for the full 90 minutes.

“The atmosphere on Saturday was the best I have seen since I have been here, I can’t tell you how much it means to us, it really drove us on and hopefully we can have many more nights like that between now and the end of the season.

“We have a lot of big games coming up, we can’t rest on this result, we have to keep going now.

“We will keep plugging away, the pressure is off us and on everyone else now, we will just keep going.”
