GARRY MONK: AN EXCITING GAME TO BE INVOLVED IN

Head coach on Sheffield Wednesday.

Leeds United head coach Garry Monk spoke exclusively to LUTV ahead of Saturday’s Yorkshire derby with Sheffield Wednesday.

The Whites sit one place above Wednesday in the division, in fifth spot, with the Owls occupying the final Play-Off spot.

United’s head coach had some good news on the injury front and admitted his side can’t wait for Saturday’s game.

“Preparations are well underway, we are all looking forward to the game and it is going to be exciting match,” said Monk.

“Charlie Taylor has been back out on the pitches and back in training this week.  Saturday will come too soon for him, he has come back in great condition though and isn’t going to need too much work, which is good for him and the group.

“Lewie Coyle has picked up an injury to his foot, which is unfortunate, but everyone else will be available.

“Sheffield Wednesday are a really strong outfit and are having another good season as expected.

“They have a very strong squad, they added to it in the summer and January, they have real strength, power and experience all over the pitch.

“Elland Road has been very good for us this season, some of the atmospheres this season have been incredible and that is down to the support we have.

“Our supporters have got us over the line a number of times at home and Saturday will be another occasion for them to come out in big numbers, be very vocal and really give the backing to the players to help us get the result.

“It’s going to be a full house, a local derby, with two teams on the same amount of points at the top end of the table, so with all those things mixed together it is an exciting game to be involved in.

“Our mentality is to try and win games, our next game is against Sheffield Wednesday, so our mentality is to win the game.
