LUKE AYLING: ELLAND ROAD WILL BE ROCKING

Defender on Sheffield Wednesday.

Leeds United defender Luke Ayling spoke exclusively to the official website ahead of Saturday’s Yorkshire derby with Sheffield Wednesday.

The Whites and the Owls are level on points heading into the match and Saturday promises to be a mouthwatering affair between the two Play-Off contenders.

Leeds come into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw with Ipswich and the Whites right-back gave his reflection on the point at Portman Road.

“Ipswich is always a difficult place to visit and a point was probably a fair result,” said Ayling.

“It was a hard game, the boys came off afterwards knackered, the pitch wasn’t the best and they turned us a lot, we struggled to play our normal game.

“We dug in though, a point wasn’t what we went there for, but after the game we knew it was a fair result.”

Nearly 35,000 tickets have been sold for Saturday’s clash and Ayling is relishing the prospect of another capacity crowd.

He said: “We’ve been in such good form at home, obviously the Cardiff game wasn’t the best but we have won seven out of eight here.

“The crowd are amazing, I can’t wait to get back out on the pitch, it is a big derby on Saturday and the place will be rocking.

“We have six home games left, I’m sure it will be packed at every home game between now and the end of the season, it is great to see so many fans turning out.

“When the fans come in big numbers it really helps us, they get us over the line and it helps us with confidence and to play well.

“It is going to be a really tough game, Sheffield Wednesday  are joint on points with us, we know it is a massive game for ourselves and the fans and we will be doing all we can to come away with the three points.”
