ALEX MOWATT JOINS BARNSLEY

Midfielder makes Oakwell switch.

Leeds United can confirm Alex Mowatt has completed a transfer to fellow Sky Bet Championship side Barnsley for an undisclosed fee.

A product of the Leeds United Academy, Mowatt first joined the club back in 2003 at the age of nine, before working his way up to the first team.

He went on to make his debut in August 2013, helping United to a 3-1 victory over Doncaster Rovers in the EFL Cup and went on to score his first goal in February 2014, in the 5-1 victory over Huddersfield Town.

Mowatt’s performances at Leeds saw him make appearances on the international stage for England’s Under-19s and Under-20s.

The 21-year-old has made 20 outings for United this season, with his last coming in Wednesday’s victory over Nottingham Forest at Elland Road.

Mowatt made a total of 125 appearances for the Whites and scored 13 goals.

We would like to thank Alex for his contribution to Leeds United and wish him the best of luck in the future.
