KEMAR ROOFE: WE ARE VERY HAPPY

Attacker on Preston win.

Leeds United forward Kemar Roofe was pleased with the Boxing Day victory over Preston North End at Deepdale.

The forward doubled his tally for the season with the opening goal of the match in the 4-1 victory in Lancashire.

Monday’s win was the biggest Leeds win in the Sky Bet Championship this season, something which Roofe was delighted with.

“It was up there with one of our best victories this season,” said Roofe.

“We knew it was going to be a fight and a physical battle with Preston, but we matched them and managed to put our football on the pitch.

“If we want to be critical we could say we could have scored some more, but we are very happy with the 4-1 score line.

“I wasn’t sure whether the initial header was going in or wide for my goal, but obviously I’m an attacker and had to take advantage and finish it off.

“Our fans are unbelievable, the support we get is fantastic, to see the huge stand full at Preston was fantastic.

“The squad is strong, we have had injuries, but we are getting everyone back now and it can only be an advantage for us.

“We play without pressure, we just worry about ourselves, if we start looking at other teams and the table, I think that is when you start to struggle.

“I’m really looking forward to the Aston Villa game now, I managed to score against them in my last meeting and hopefully I can do the same on Thursday.”
