MARCUS ANTONSSON: I’M WAITING FOR MY CHANCE

Striker pleased with Terriers hat-trick.

Leeds United striker Marcus Antonsson was pleased to score a perfect hat-trick against Huddersfield Town on Monday for the Under 23’s.

The Swede’s goals were crucial as Leeds recorded a 3-2 victory over the Terriers at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Having scored with his left and right foot, Anstonsson admitted he wanted to complete the perfect trio of goals.

“After the second I was thinking I had to score one with my head, so that was the plan,” Antonsson said.

“It was very good, it was nice to play 90 minutes again, to win the game and score three goals was perfect.

“The conditions out on the field were difficult, it was a heavy pitch with it raining for the whole match, but it was a good game and nice to win it.

“I haven’t played that much in the last couple of games, so to get 90 minutes and score three goals is really beneficial for me and I’m getting stronger.

“The young lads here look very good, it was a quality game played at a high tempo for the Under 23’s.”

Antonsson says he is biding his time, continuing to work and is hoping for a return to first team action in the near future.

He said: “I started well but there are a lot of good players here and Chris Wood has scored a lot of goals, I’m just happy for the team that we are doing well on the field.

“I’m waiting for my chance again, when it comes I will take it, but I feel I have taken another step forward against Huddersfield.

“We have a really good group here, everybody works so hard every day and for each other, the more games we play the better we will get, I think we have something really good going on here.”
