PEP CLOTET: THIS IS A PROJECT

Assistant on first four months.

Leeds United assistant head coach Pep Clotet is pleased with the way things are going at Elland Road.

Ahead of the international break, the Whites recorded three Championship wins in a row to enter the play-off places.

The United assistant admitted it is great to see how the Leeds side has improved over recent months to get into today’s position.

“We are quite satisfied and happy at the moment with where we are now,” Clotet said.

“We know this is a project, we have focused on correcting the mistakes and we are getting everyone working together as a unit.

“Everyone is becoming more effective every day, we know this is a long journey, it was tough at the beginning and it gives us a lot of joy to see how the team is performing right now.

“It is still in the back of our mind that the tough times will come and we will need that strength to get through it.

“From inside the squad, the commitment of the players and unselfishness gives us a lot of power in our performances, everyone is prepared to go that extra mile for the team.”

Clotet also spoke about the change of atmosphere at Elland Road in recent weeks.

“The relationship we now have with the team and the fans is really good, because we do feel we are fighting and working together for our own benefit.

“The game is about being better than the opposition and the fans always remind us of that, it is good to have the mentality where the fans always want you and encourage you to do more.

“When you cross that barrier of insecurity, maybe at the beginning of games and you get to a point with where you are comfortable with how you are playing and you are sure that your teammates are going to work as hard as you, it makes the fans proud and ourselves proud of being part of Leeds United.”
