Leeds United are delighted to announce that defender Lewie Coyle has signed a two year contract extension, keeping him at Elland Road until 2019.

Coyle, a product of the famous Leeds United Academy system, joined the youth set up in 2004 and signed his first professional contract in 2014.

After impressing as captain of the Under 21 side, the right back made his debut for the Whites against Nottingham Forest last December.

The 21-year-old who has made 12 first team appearances, is currently sidelined due to a knee injury he picked up in the EFL clash with Norwich last week.

Despite his injury, this contract extension reinforces the clubs commitment to providing security to our younger players, who are our future.

Speaking exclusively to LUTV, Coyle expressed his joy at getting a new deal agreed, “I’m delighted to sign an extension and to have committed my future to the club. I’ve had some bad news with the injury so this is definitely good news.”

“You are always fighting for that next contract so for it to be done now is a positive”.

“I feel when I broke through into the team, that I’ve taken my chance and done well. So it’s nice to be rewarded.”

“I’ve been here since the age of seven, so the thought of not being here is a daunting one! I’ve come on leaps and bounds this season, it’s great to be coached under Garry Monk and we’re looking up from here.”
