REDFEARN PLEASED WITH POINT

Head coach gives his verdict on 1-1 draw at Forest...

Neil Redfearn spoke of his pride after seeing United come from behind to secure a 1-1 draw away to Nottingham Forest.

Matty Fryatt had put the hosts ahead in first-half stoppage time, poking in from close range, but Billy Sharp converted a 54th-minute penalty after a foul on Sam Byram to ensure the spoils were shared.

"I thought they were excellent," Redfearn said of his side’s display.

"I thought the way we applied ourselves, competed and fought... I thought we deserved to keep a clean sheet in the first half.

"The goal wasn’t good from our point of view. But I thought the overall performance, and the diligence when changed it and went to 4-4-2, I thought it was a really good away performance.

"There was two really good chances before they’d even had a sniff. But I think in this process, we’re gradually halting things and turning it in the right direction.

"We’ve got it right at home, we’ve picked results up and played well.

"We looked dogged today which is a good sign. What you’ll find is you’ll turn those draws into wins away from home.

"We came in at half-time and it was positive. It was a positive spin.

"It was a great run by Sam Byram to get brought down for the penalty. I was pleased for Billy Sharp today, I thought he earned his penalty.

"He worked hard for the team, he tracked back and he made it difficult for Forest. I’m pleased for the lad."
