Women’s football is the fastest growing sport in England and Leeds United are now offering talented girls the same opportunity that boys have had for many years.  Leeds United’s under 17 and 19 players have been training full time and studying at Boston Spa Sports College for the past 8 years.

Two of the current first team squad,  James Milner and Simon Johnson have both studied at Boston Spa to support their football education.

"I am studying Sport and Leisure at Boston Spa and am finding it enjoyable and challenging," said James.  "The teachers are helpful and the facilities are fantastic."

Simon studied at Boston Spa for four years and has enjoyed the benfits, he said: "I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Boston Spa.  I met a lot of my friends there and it has helped me prepare well for my football career.  I would recommend it to anybody!"

The women’s football programme will include regular competitive fixtures and training sessions from qualified Leeds United Academy Coaches and will cover all the technical, tactical, physical and psychological aspects of the game that creates excellent footballers.

Players will have the opportunity to study for a range of coaching qualifications and deliver coaching as part of the school sport coordination programme.

Lucy Ward who plays for Leeds United Ladies will be the Course Tutor.

"The programme is an ideal stepping stone for young female players into a career in football  and, or coaching," said Lucy.

"I wish I had been given the opportunity to follow a course like this as it would have helped me improve my football, coaching and leadership skills whilst continuing with my education. "
