MIRCO REFLECTS ON DEBUT SEASON

Striker looks back at his first campaign in English football...

Striker Mirco Antenucci has been speaking to the Italian media to reflect on his debut season at Leeds which saw him finish as the club’s top goalscorer.

Antenucci, a summer signing from Serie B side Ternana, ended the campaign with 10 goals to his name from 37 appearances in all competitions.

"It was very good as a first season,” he told Calcionews24.com.” It was a new style of football other than Italian, a new way of life.

“It has been a positive experience and, considering I played a little more than halfway through the season, I scored 10 goals so ended being the top scorer of the team.”

Prior to making the summer switch to Elland Road, Antenucci’s entire career had been spent in the Italian leagues, but the striker was pleased with how he managed to adapt to life in the second tier of English football.

"My style of play is good for both championships, because English football is more physical than ours (in Italy),” he explained.

“But there are also players with my characteristics, since many teams play with the 4-4-2 and are a bit more physical and with my characteristics.”

Assessing the campaign as a whole, Antenucci added: "It has been a slightly difficult season as a team because we had a lot of new players in a new club and it takes some time.

“In the end, I must say it was positive despite all the little mishaps that we had during the year.”
