Striker agrees new one-year deal with the club...

Young striker Luke Parkin has agreed a new one-year deal with the club.

The 19-year-old, who joined the Academy aged seven, will officially sign his new contract upon returning to pre-season training this summer.

Parkin turned professional back in March 2013 and has been a regular goalscorer in United’s youth teams throughout his time at the club.

The forward featured 27 times for the Under-21s last season and found the net on nine occasions, including a number of match-winning strikes.

Parkin is yet to make his senior debut for the club but has trained with the first team and was with the matchday squad for December’s meeting with Fulham, where he just missed out on a place among the substitutes.

He joins team-mate Alex Purver in agreeing a new deal at the club, as well as second year scholars Frank Mulhern, Tom Lyman and Bailey Peacock-Farrell, who have all accepted professional contracts.
