Young defender Jake Skelton has agreed a new one-year deal at Elland Road.

The 19-year-old, along with team-mates Luke Parkin and Alex Purver, will officially put pen to paper on his new contract upon returning to pre-season training later this summer.

Skelton, who joined the Academy at Under-10s level, spent time on loan at local Conference North side Guiseley last season and also featured 22 times for United’s Under-21s at Thorp Arch.

The centre-back is yet to make his senior United debut but he was part of the travelling squad for last summer’s pre-season visit to Italy and has trained regularly with the first team.

He is the latest Academy product to agree to new terms at the club this week after Parkin and Purver both accepted their one-year contract offers and second year scholars Frank Mulhern, Tom Lyman and Bailey Peacock-Farrell agreed professional deals.
