WALTERS AGREES NEW LEEDS DEAL

Young forward to extend his Elland Road stay by a further year...

Young forward Lewis Walters has agreed a new one-year deal with the club.

Walters, a product of United’s esteemed Academy, will officially put pen to paper in the coming days after accepting the offer presented to him last month.

The 20-year-old is yet to make his first-team debut but was on the periphery of the senior squad for the closing months of last season after recovering from a lengthy knee injury picked up in pre-season.

The striker, who can play centrally or out wide, was an unused substitute for February’s Elland Road defeat to Watford and often was often part of the travelling squad to away games.

Walters also featured 10 times for United’s Under-21s, scoring on three occasions, as he battled his way back to full fitness in a bid to become a regular part of the first-team plans.

Walters, who turned professional back in 2013, is highly-regarded at Thorp Arch having first made a name for himself in the Harrogate Sunday Leagues.

He will now be looking to make an impression on new head coach Uwe Rosler as the squad prepares to return for pre-season training later this month.
