DALLAS COMPLETES UNITED SWITCH

Winger joins from Brentford to become seventh summer signing...

We are delighted to confirm the signing of winger Stuart Dallas on a three-year deal from Brentford.

The Northern Ireland international, our seventh new addition of the summer, joins for an undisclosed fee with the option of a fourth year on his contract.

Dallas, 24, is capable of playing on both flanks and arrives with a glowing reputation in the Championship after making his name in England with Brentford, where he worked under head coach Uwe Rosler.

Rosler took Dallas to Griffin Park back in summer 2012 after a string of award-winning displays with homeland club Crusaders as a youngster.

Dallas was named as the Northern Ireland Football Writers’ Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year for 2011, earning himself international recognition along the way at Under-23s level.

He was made to be patient for his chance at Brentford after making the switch the following year, heading out on loan to Northampton Town to gain experience, before returning to form part of their promotion-winning team of 2013/14.

Dallas starred in the Bees’ impressive Championship return last season, featuring 43 times and scoring eight goals, including their Goal of the Season winner at Fulham, as they reached the play-offs with a fifth-place finish.

He featured at Elland Road back in February this year, helping Brentford to a 1-0 league win.

Dallas now becomes Rosler’s seventh summer signing so far – following Charlie Horton, Lee Erwin, Sol Bamba, Chris Wood, Tom Adeyemi and Ross Turnbull through the door at Elland Road – after passing his medical at Thorp Arch on Monday afternoon.

The winger could make his United debut in Saturday’s 2015/16 season opener against Burnley at Elland Road this Saturday (12.30pm).
