The Whites exited the League Cup after a nine goal thriller against Stoke City Ladies.

Leeds made the perfect start to the game when Katie Thompson’s corner drifted in past the Stoke keeper.

The hosts looked to respond straight away and Cassie Hyde headed in past Simpson four minutes later.

From there on in, Stoke attacked the Leeds goal at will, with Tezgal heading wide, Simpson denying Hayes, Tezgal heading against the crossbar as did McCoy.
With Carrie Simpson once again denying Keryakoplis with a brilliant one-handed save, the pressure told on the stroke of half-time as Tezgal headed the hosts into the lead.

The hosts looked to add to their two goals, and Tezgal came close on two occasions. Just before the hour mark Faye McCoy made it three when her cross drifted in past Simpson.

Three minutes later Keryakoplis made it four, shooting in off the bar. Leeds could have buckled but pulled two back in quick succession as Beth Davies scrambled one in and then fired home from ten yards.

With momentum with The Whites, they were dealt a bitter blow three minutes later when Hayes made it 5-3, before Holly Findlay saw her header saved. Amy Hughes rounded off the scoring with a low drive past Simpson.
