Leeds Women Fall To 3-0 Cup Defeat Against Burnley

10 minute hat trick from Kelly Halligan saw Burnley go through to the next round of the League Cup

Burnley FC Women 3 Halligan 80, 90, 90+3

With both sides making a winning start to their respective league campaigns, it was Burnley who had the first chance of note with Wattam denying Sarah Greenhalgh.

Greenhalgh then shot just wide before being denied by brilliant last ditch tackle by Milly Ash. Hamer then volleyed straight at Wattam before being denied by a fantastic one handed save, which ensured the sides went in at the break goalless.

It was the visitors who were first on the attack when Molly Havard headed away a goal bound volley from Hamer. Substitute Holly Findlay then came close with a chip that sailed just over before Havard fires just over moments later.

Wattam got down well to deny Rathburn before Halligan fired Burnley into the lead with a low drive into the far corner. Ten minute later the same player made it two as she rounded Wattam to fire into an empty net and she completed her hat trick with the last kick of the game.
