Leeds United College collaborate with Farsley Celtic FC Academy

New residential degree programme to provide further football pathways for youngsters.

Leeds United College will join forces with Farsley Celtic FC Academy Scholarship Programme (CP2P) to provide football pathways for youngsters as part of a new degree course.

This new collaboration will see Leeds United College partnering with the largest non-league club in the city, Farsley Celtic FC, providing exciting opportunities for elite students within the games programme.

As part of this degree course, students will undertake a comprehensive educational programme and NCFE Level 3 alongside an elite training programme with the chance for youngsters to reach their full potential and develop into a well-rounded individual. As part of the course players will also have the chance to progress through Farsley Celtic FC while playing competitive games in the National Football Youth Under-23 League (NFYL) against the likes of Everton and Crystal Palace.

This new collaboration will also allow students to explore further opportunities in other areas, such as overseas international projects and community initiatives across Leeds, ensuring youngsters are being given life experiences that will help them in their future.

Director of the Farsley Celtic FC Academy Scholarship Programme (CP2P), Lutel James, said: “The partnership between these two great clubs I’m sure will be a major success, with a mass amount of potential. This programme will focus on pushing players to reach their full potential with a real focus on progression into either our first team and professional football, a university course or other positive platforms.”

Ashley Bailey, who is the Assistant Academy Manager at Farsley Celtic FC and also works as a coach with the Leeds United Academy, added: “The opportunity for Farsley Celtic and Leeds United to work together seemed like a no-brainer. The opportunities we can collectively create for players, as well as expanding their development as people, is something that I’m really looking forward to.

“The programme has already developed international recognition and has grown from strength to strength throughout. We are constantly looking for ex-academy talent and other potential players between the age of 15 and 23 who wish to get back into the professional football league system, so this is the perfect opportunity for them.”
