Leeds United College celebrate Qatar National Sport Day

College build partnership with Embassy of the State of Qatar to UK.

Leeds United College is partnering with the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the United Kingdom along with Sheffield FC, the oldest football club in the world, to celebrate Qatar National Sport Day 2020 in Sheffield.

The collaboration aims to create a positive lifestyle, encourage physical activity and provide opportunities to widen the skills-set of those who may not always get the opportunity to do so.

Over 250 children will attend the Qatar National Sport Day celebrations at the English Institute of Sport (EIS) in Sheffield on Wednesday 12th February from 10am to 2:30pm. Throughout the day, there will be a variety of multi-sports stations for pupils to have taster sessions from staff of EIS, Leeds United College and Sheffield FC.

His Excellency the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the UK, Yousef Al Khater, said: “The Embassy of the State of Qatar to the UK is proud to be collaborating and partnering with Leeds United and Sheffield FC Foundation to celebrate Qatar National Sport Day in Sheffield.

“Qatar National Sport Day is a national holiday in the State of Qatar, where everyone is encouraged to participate in sport and fitness activities, in whatever capacity they wish, to celebrate the importance of sport, healthy living and healthy lifestyles.

“Qatar and the UK share a belief in the power of sport to enrich lives and bring people together. There are no better examples of this type of commitment than the work done by Sheffield FC Foundation and Leeds United College.”

The aim of Qatar National Sport Day is to promote sports and a healthier, more active lifestyle to both younger and older generations in Qatar and beyond. It brings communities together through sport and its principles of team building, inclusion, unity and participation.
